You may be surprised when people you love question LAP-BAND®'s effectiveness (or your ability to stick with it), bring rich foods into the house, munch down chips within earshot, or even say things like "You're no fun anymore." Understand that their attempts to derail your progress are about their issues, not yours. Your spouse might joke with you that you'll leave him or her when you're thinner. Your sister might express concerns that now she'll be the "fat one" after you lose weight. While it's wise for you to discuss concerns with your loved ones, remember that it's your body, your health, and your decision. Don't allow other people to try to make you feel guilty for wanting to improve your health and make a positive change in your life. Explain your decision and how they can be helpful to you in achieving your goals.
