Make Leftovers LAP-BAND® System Friendly

"Cook once, eat twice" is a time-saving strategy. But meat and poultry reheated in the microwave or oven can become too dense and dry for easy eating with the LAP-BAND® System. Instead, reheat the rest of your meal-such as vegetables and starches-but allow meats to come to room temperature for half an hour or so before you eat, suggests bariatric dietitian Rachel Brandeis, MS, RD, of Atlanta, Georgia. "Just take it out of the refrigerator and let it sit, covered, on the kitchen counter. Thirty minutes is usually all you need; don't leave it out for more than two hours." If you want something hotter, chop leftover meat and reheat it in soup. (Check our LAP-BAND® Recipe Library for soup ideas.)
