If you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. But are your symptoms really the flu? "If your only symptom is vomiting, contact your doctor to make certain the band hasn't slipped or that nothing's stuck in it," suggests Terry Simpson, MD, a bariatric surgeon in Phoenix, Arizona. If you have all the classic signs of a stomach flu-diarrhea, vomiting, and just feeling bad-and you know that the flu is going around, you can probably deal with it at home. Call your doctor if you notice any signs of dehydration, such as extreme thirst, dry mouth, dark or scanty urine, weakness, lethargy, or dizziness.
