Ease Fill Anxiety with Info

Rate This Resource
Lots of patients are anxious before their first fills. However, knowing what'll happen and how it'll feel can ease that anxiety. The good news: There's not much pain or discomfort. After some anesthetics or a freeze spray, the skin is cleaned with a disinfectant, and then the fill needle is inserted into your port and the fluid is added. The doctor will have you drink some fluid to be sure the band isn't too tight, and then you're done. Once you know what to expect, any other fills become easier.
