When scheduling time to exercise, remember to tack on 5 to 10 minutes for a cooldown. Cooling down helps gradually lower your heart rate and blood pressure to normal and ease your muscles out of workout mode. This may help you feel less stiff and sore later on-and you can help feel better about exercise in general. That's because you're more apt to remember the last thing you did-and forget the more difficult minutes that came before. An easy way to cool down: Walk for 5 to 10 minutes, then stretch.
